      This glossary was developed by the Society for Range Management to help people understand terms used in rangelands and rangeland management. This is a great resource for teachers teaching ecology, riparian areas, environment, or rangeland lessons.

    • Rangeland Through Time (Grades 4-12)
      This publication is a report on changes in Wyoming rangeland as indicated by comparative photography. The author compares pictures taken the William Henry Jackson during the 1870's with pictures taken in the 1980's of the same sites. Individually and together, they are a comment on the nature of ecological changes in Wyoming over the past century.

    • American Stewards: The 2002 Environmental Stewardship Program
      (Grades 4-Adults)

      This video highlights the progressive farms and ranches across the nation that promotes environmental stewardship. Cattlemen were among the first to recognize the importance of conservation and caring for the land, water and wildlife. Properly managed cattle production is an excellent example of sustainable agriculture and is efficient in the use of land, water and energy. This is a great resource to open discussion about agriculture and conservation issues with students.

    • Landscape (Grades 4-12)
      A new story of possibility in the changing American West. Video and teacher guide featuring western artist Larry Zabel. Public perceptions of the American West have been molded in part, by the wilderness images of nineteenth century artist Albert Bierstadt and the cowboy paintings of Charles M. Russell. LANDSCAPE is the story of how the visions of Bierstadt and Russell come together in some kind of common ground in the American West. The video features how ranchers are working collaborative to conserve open spaces and wildlife habitats. A teacher's guide is included.

    • Last Stand of the Tallgrass PrairieB (Grades 7-12)
      As beautiful as it is rare, intact tallgrass prairielands once covered millions of square miles stretching from the Rockies to the Eastern hardwood forest. This new PBS video chronicles the history of the prairie from before human arrival through modern times. Latest research findings are also presented, where they use a combination of fire and grazing to renew the prairies.

    • Ranches of Wyoming (Grades 2-6)
      This video highlights Wyoming ranchers and environmental stewardship efforts they are doing on the ranch. This is a great video for fourth grade students to learn about agriculture and the role agriculture plays in maintaining Wyoming's economy.

    • Stream and Riparian Area Management (Grades 9-Adults)
      This four-video set with accompanying instructional materials is specifically designed to assist producers and educators how to monitor and manage riparian areas and streams. This is a great resource for High School Teachers participating in CRM in the Classroom projects. A kit is included.

    • Cycling Back To Nature (Grades 4-9)
      This instructional unit is versatile and can be adapted for grades 4-12. The spiral bound guide contains information and lesson plans about the ecosystems, microorganisms, farmer role-playing, pesticides and the environment, and world populations and food production. Well written and teacher friendly. These materials would be very useful for 5th grade science and economics education for grades 4-9.

      The Discovery Trunks contain a great amount of knowledge and understanding of agriculture and natural resources. Developed by Wyoming Agriculture In The Classroom to enhance students' awareness and understanding of Wyoming's natural resources and the role agriculture plays in sustaining open spaces, wildlife habitats and rural economies.
    • Things We Can Learn from a Cow and a Worm poster kit (Grades 3-5)
      This artistic 22" by 34" poster includes teacher information and activities that help students understand how cows above ground and worms below ground benefit our environment. The activities discuss conservation, the food web, and recycle concepts (plans for making compost in a milk jug are included). This is a great "teacher and student friendly" packet.
