NEED
This workshop presents a unique opportunity for classroom teachers (K-12)
to learn about energy in a fun and exciting way! The workshops are designed
to teach the science of energy and energy transformations and to teach about
Wyoming’s energy resources and the importance of energy efficiency and conservation.
This special TWO DAY workshop includes a trip to an EnCana drilling site with
a tour of the drilling operations.
Participation in this workshop provides educators with more than $500
of curriculum and hands-on kits that teach about energy resources
and energy transformations through hands-on activities. Because energy is
a cross-curricular subject, the workshops have been designed to provide educators
teaching science, math, technology, social sciences, and language arts with
an opportunity to team teach about energy. Schools should consider sending
teams of educators to the workshop.
The NEED Project includes teacher-tested educational materials, evaluation
techniques and tools, recognition of student achievement, and professional
development for educators. All NEED learning activities are aligned to Wyoming
education standards.
EnCana is a team of scientists, scholars, operators and managers. But they’re
also neighbors, moms, dads and other hard-working folks who care about Wyoming
– and who work hard to produce the clean-burning natural gas that is in high
demand throughout the state and the nation.
Thanks to EnCana, Fremont County BOCES and Wyoming Ag in the Classroom, there
is no cost to attend workshops. Breakfast and lunch will be
provided. Substitute reimbursement forms will
be available at the workshop and substitute costs
will be reimbursed to school districts. If your district has a question, contact
NEED at 1-800-875-5029. If you are traveling from outside the local area, lodging
for 2 nights will be provided. Additional information will be sent to those
indicating they need lodging.
